Some say that a city’s progress is measured by a booming economy, a thriving downtown, and being home to H&M. I’m kind of kidding on that last one, but not really. I, for one, have always looked for an H&M location in the cities where I’ve traveled and get extremely disappointing when I discover that there isn’t one. H&M has opened a 2nd location in San Antonio and the Grand Opening was nothing short of amazing. The first location opened in June 2014 at The Shops at La Cantera and it was pure pandemonium. The hype was so big, that people camped over night to get access to the ribbon cutting ceremony and, of course, for the incredible free goodies the opening event was offering. For this second Grand Opening event, people were lined up in the early morning to get first dibs at the opening offers, this past Thursday, Oct 22.

We were honored to have been invited to the Media/Blogger Breakfast and get a first look at the store before the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. The event was hosted by San Antonio PR queen, Tori Foster-Johnson (also winner of 2015 San Antonio Fashion Award for Fashion Blogger of the Year for The StoriBook). The store is huge! It has 2 stories and over 24,000 square feet of pure heaven. This store is different from the location at La Cantera because it does not carry the children’s line, it has an expanded menswear department and it’s one of 91 locations in the country to carry the very new Beauty Department. We had the opportunity to speak with the U.S. Communications and Expansion Specialist, Patrick Shaner, who gave us the inside scoop on the new H&M and how San Antonio is continuing to grow as a City on the Rise with national attention.

A third location is set to open at an undisclosed date in the old Joske’s building at the Rivercenter mall.
