27 Feb Julian Gold Fashion Show: Women Give Back Host Fashion Event for Child Safe
The month of February was chock full of of ultra fashionable events! There were plenty of fashion shows, but one in particular stood out because of the heart behind it. Women Give Back San Antonio hosted a fashion show with San Antonio style staple, Julian Gold to raise funds for Child Safe while also raising awareness for abused children. Part of the event included attendees donating a bag of gently used clothes (kids and adults), toiletries or any other items to help the families. Their mission was to help restore dignity, hope and trust to children traumatized by abuse and neglect. For every purchase for Valentines Day at Julian Gold, 10% of the evening’s proceeds was to be donated to Child Safe.
“ChildSafe is a Children’s Advocacy Center — the only one in Bexar County — that provides specialized services to children and teenagers who have been abused, neglected, or sexually abused.”
Everyday there are 185 confirmed cases of child abuse in Texas. Every week 2 children die at the hands of an adult in TX. Last year Child Safe served a total of 4,359 individuals, a 16% increase over previous years. BEXAR County, per capita has MORE confirmed cases of child abuse than Houston and Dallas. These statistics are staggering and extremely saddening. We are delighted to have wonderful organizations like Child Safe and Women Give Back using fashion to create awareness and help those children of San Antonio in need.
The event was held on February 3rd, 2016. The models wore designer pieces provided by Julian Gold and the runway featured San Antonio’s most stylish and elite women, including our favorite fashion photographer, Semon Tam, beautiful socialites like, Leann Cyr, Rocío Heller and Alexandra Cavazos, among other fabulous women of San Antonio.
