11 Jul Alber Elbaz, he’s back!
Italian brand Tod’s has joined forces with Alber Elbaz as part of their Tod’s Factory Project. The project, an idea inspired by The Warhol Factory, consists of capsule collections put together by collaborations with leading designers.
The partnership is the first for Elbaz who has gone silent since his Lanvin dismissal. After meeting Diego Della Valle, Tod’s owner, two years ago, similarities were discovered and thus Happy Moments was born.
“I think we all need happy moments now more than ever, to inject happiness in life and work and this industry we all love. So here we are. The beautiful thing is to work with the heart and the hands.”, said Elbaz during a lavish celebration, attended by editors and influencers in the middle of last week’s couture shows in Paris. The feté held at the beautiful Palais de Tokyo served as an introduction to the collection.
The collection which consist of the house’s classic driving shoe, ballet pumps, sneaker soled shoes, handbags, and a selection of men’s footwear are all set to launch on July 15th with a second capsule being released in September of 2019. Bright colors, a Tod’s logo, and a platform sole stole the show within this collection. It’s clear Elbaz had some fun as there’s a sense of humor and obviously some happiness.
Having said to only be back for a second, the future for Elbaz remains unknown. With the history of his last fashion relationship it’s not only understandable but brings up a burning debate, to build a brand or join another. To Vogue he said, “I’ll be back…when the time comes.”.
