What do Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Selena Gomez and Millie Bobbi Brown all have in common? Apart from being major powerhouses in their fields, they all now have beauty brands! Texas native Selena Gomez being the latest star to create her own line, we are excited to share the news and give a sneak peak into RARE BEAUTY.
The star posted the news on an Instagram Live early February, noting that she will launch the line with Sephora this summer, and that she was sharing the news while wearing the makeup, including a bold, red lip. No details on the products have been released just yet but we have our eyes peeled for what Gomez has in store. In the video released via her Rare Beauty Instagram, you can see her playing around with lip shades, testing makeup sponges and applying what looks like foundation. We have a feeling there will be some sneak peeks before it officially launches this summer
The makeup line will be sold exclusively at Sephora in the U.S., Canada and Mexico, including the Sephora inside J.C. Penney locations, as well as on its own web site. “We will go globally next year,” Gomez said, hinting that parts of the launch process would be collaborative. “I want your help to build the brand, because I want it to be real — real stories, real people.” The Launch follows the release of her album titled RARE. Gomez took a mental break from her career and 5 years later released this album devoted to her journey of self love and self improvement. When asked why she decided on the name RARE, Gomez responded with “That word is so special and it means a lot. And I think that in this time, where everyone is obsessed with feeling that they need to look the same way or get things done, or whatever it may be. There are some girls who are hurting because they feel like they don’t fit in but this word is eliminating that because you weren’t meant to look like everyone else. You’re meant to be who you are and that’s unique and that’s rare.”

“I think Rare Beauty can be more than a beauty brand,” she continued. “I want us all to stop comparing ourselves to each other and just start embracing our own uniqueness. You’re not defined by a photo, a like or a comment. Rare Beauty isn’t about how other people see you. It’s about how you see yourself.” At the end of the day that is truly what beauty signifies. It is within us all, and to have a cosmetic line that represents self love is amazing.
