model walking the runway at the San Antonio Food Bank warehouse
Although this event recently passed, we could not have a fashion event list without this award winning show. RUNWAY, Where Fashion Meets Compassion, is an annual signature event that is known for bringing high fashion to the runway in support of philanthropy and the fight for hunger by the San Antonio Food Bank. The annual event takes place in March and brings the community together to raise funds and awareness to the many areas of service they support all wrapped in a fashionable night of hand crafted cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, silent auctions and of course, the elite runway show that captures the essence of their chosen theme each year.
Hosted by none other than Spurs Arena MC, Chuck Cureau, this past years event was dedicated to showcasing Mid Century Modern style with incredible fashion by Sask Fifth Avenue.
This event has become a Texas fan favorite for its incredible cause and professional production. The San Antonio Food Bank has quickly grown to serve 58,000 individuals a week in one of the largest service areas in Texas with their focus on clients having food for today and also the resources needed to be self-sufficient in the future. Touching the lives of families, individuals, seniors, children, and military members its no surprise that this event continues to stand strong and outdo themselves year after year.

Patrons pose before walking into the UIW Cutting Edge Fiesta Fashion Show
The Cutting Edge Fiesta Fashion Show is the longest running, student highlight fashion show in San Antonio, TX. Typically, the annual celebration takes place in April and is an official Fiesta San Antonio event. The show features student designers from the UIW Fashion Design program that are enrolled in design and production.
The runway features the culmination of a yearlong design process of the senior fashion design students who learn to design and create within time-lines and budgets typical within the industry. Fall student designers plan and produce their collections while the spring students learn about fashion production and management.
Proceeds have provided scholarships for UIW fashion management students since 2006 and more than $50,000 in scholarships have been awarded to the student winners as stated in the UIW.edu news page.
Set for the Fall/Winter
Although this event was originally set for March 28th this year, The Roshnic Fashion Show is still gearing up for a fall/winer date and we can’t wait. Roshnic Latif is a Texas fashion designer from Pakistan known for releasing multiple micro lines, her culturally embellished pieces, and her highly popular hand-painted designs. A favorite among the Texas community, her fashion shows feature cross-cultural designs with this year set to feature global cuisine, all in the name of supporting children and families in need through SJRC Texas.
In honor of her parents who passed away in Pakistan, Roshnic Latif has dedicated her life to creating colorful, one-of-a kind clothing. In her more recent years, she has used this talent to raise money for nonprofit organizations. Her unique use of western and eastern styles, as well as her crafting techniques have brought her much success. She’s received much attention for her block prints and hand-painted silks and chiffons and continues to draw new attention and fans every year.
