05 May A Year Without The Met Gala: A Celebration of Tradition of Art & Fashion! Catch Our Favorite Looks As We Reminisce On Past Red Carpets.
Historically, the first Monday in May has marked an iconic night for fashion and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met Gala has long been dedicated to raising funds for the Met’s Costume Institute, but has also become one of the best nights in fashion and one of our personal favorites to review. The first Monday in May came and went and sadly we were left with no Met Gala red carpet looks to discuss. Lucky for us, Vogue spent yesterday reminiscing on past gala looks. With a celebration called “A Moment With the Met”, Vogue spent hours highlighting their favorite moments on the carpet and ended the day with a live stream celebration including musical performances by Florence and The Machine and a DJ set by Virgil Abloh.
In addition, six new videos will bring Met gala memories to life, thanks to the insight of former attendees like Naomi Campbell, Cardi B, Stella McCartney, and more. See the line-up below:

Life in Looks: Naomi Campbell – 3 p.m.
Everything You Need to Know About the Met Gala – 7 p.m.
Tuesday, May 5

SLTV Breaks Down Our Favorite Looks From Past Met Gala Red Carpets
The first Monday of May will be much quieter this year and will be truly missed. Vogue and The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced that the event will be postponed indefinitely in light of public health concerns. While we hope there will be better news soon, the Style Lush TV team took a walk down memory lane and chose some of our all-time favorite looks.

My favorite Met Gala look has to be Rihanna in her Pope outfit in 2018. It was shocking, controversial, intricate, and opulent. The theme was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination and RiRi was co-chair. This look was by far the most jaw-dropping for me and for so many. Kim Kardashian’s look and mood was inspired by Sophia Loren from 1957’s Boy on a Dolphin with a more modern conceptual feel designed by Thierry Mugler, who came out of retirement to create this look. What I love most about this look is that it captured the gala theme “Camp: Notes on Fashion,” in it’s most sleek and chic essence. From head-to-toe, the outfit was a complete wet look that had a form-fitting nude bodice made from latex. The ruching from the center of the waist, had a signature Kim K West silhouette with dripping details of crystals that mimicked water droplets as if emerging from the ocean. From the 6 month concept, to the pink carpet, I loved the simplicity and fine details. -Kaia Dublin, Style Contributor at Style Lush TV

Also known as the “naked dress”, this sheer Versace gown was the dress of choice for Kylie Jenner at the 2017 Met Gala. Living up to its name, this see-through garment is made solely of mesh, sparkling embellishments, and crystal fringe. This look was also a 180 from Kylie Jenner’s 2016 look, which was a silver Balmain dress and a black bob. I personally chose this dress because of its sleek, delicate design that captured this years theme “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between” -Saige Thomas, In-House Photographer at Style Lush TV

As you can imagine, our team had a blast reminiscing on some of our favorite Met Gala moments. There are truly too many to count and wow, was this hard for us to choose! Now it’s time for me to do the same and after seeing what the team has picked out I’m finding it even harder. After doing a deep dive into the past 72 years since the first Met Gala in 1948, I finally settled on one favorite look, rather one favorite style icon (I know, I cheated in my own game but I couldn’t pick just one!) Cher has and always will be a complete style icon. She is someone I personally have looked up to and I’m not the only one. Cher is constantly inspiring some of our favorite celebrities with their own personal style. Kim Kardashian West and Emily Ratajkowski are but two celebs who have walked the infamous Met carpet in looks directly inspired by those of Cher. She is a trendsetter in her own right, always stepping out and shaking the fashion world by storm. Here are some of my favorite Cher looks from the Met Gala. -Kassandra Rodriguez, Style Contributor at Style Lush TV
